The Farmhouse Story

Welcome to the Urban Farmhouse, a casual market café and coffee & tea house featuring a simple menu of fresh, seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. The décor is rustic and reminiscent of a farmhouse kitchen. Sandwiches and salads are prepared with the freshest of produce, dairy and naturally raised meats delivered daily from local suppliers.
Richmonders will never eat the same again! The Urban Farmhouse Market & Café is located at 1217 East Cary Street in the historic Shockoe Slip district of Richmond, VA.
The new concept was created by Kathleen Richardson, in partnership with Justin French of FRENCH Consulting Company. “The location of The Urban Farmhouse Market & Café represents the ideals of both organizations in urban renewal, representing a rapidly growing interest in eco-friendly options where we live and what we eat, including the heart of our city neighborhoods,” said Justin French.
“From a professional and personal standpoint, I feel Richmond was the ideal place to launch the Farmhouse” said Kathleen Richardson, ”I grew up here and started my career in the restaurant industry, so personally I was happy to return to my roots. Richmonders have shown they want good, straight-from-the-earth food where they know where it’s been and how it’s been grown. Most of all, they love coming somewhere where folks are just nice and friendly.”
The 1,500 square foot market & café accommodates about 50 patrons. Normal operating hours are 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, staying open an hour later on Friday. Weekend hours are 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
