Spring in Richmond

Spring is one of our favorite seasons here at the Urban Farmhouse, between the two different and awesome growing seasons and, therefore menus, it’s also the time of year that we can start to open up the doors of the cafés and see all of the awesome things going on around Richmond.

This Sunday is the Annual East Parade on Monument, the beginning of a season of many outdoor events and festivals here in the Richmond area. One of the most outstanding and popular events here in Richmond is the Monument Ave 10K which will be happening on April 9th, also that same day is the Celebration of the Vine festival right by our Millworks location at the Coalfield Commons Plaza in Midlothian. Later in April is the RVA Earth Day festival in the Manchester neighborhood, on April 23rd from 12-7pm. This year the festival will also coincide with the RVA Street Art Festival in Manchester which is going to run from April 21st – 24th. They will be focusing on bridging the river going from Manchester to Browns as well as revitalizing part of the James River Park next to the silos, which are part of the Manchester Canal Project. Following up both of these is Dominion Riverrock May 20th -22nd which is the nation premiere outdoor sports and music festival and a must visit event here in Richmond.

Richmond in spring is definitely a magical season, days at the river, cherry blossoms on Browns Isle, and runs or bike rides through the James River Park System we are absolutely in love with our home. We look forward to all of the festivals and all of the visitors that we can meet and share our love of Richmond with – just ask a Farmhand about their favorite spot in the city to visit in the Spring and there is no telling what beautiful spot you will be sent to.
